A premium single-origin coffee from Karnataka's Malnad hills, launching in the Czech Republic: an identity built to feel unmistakably Indian without feeling traditional.
The brief
Malnadia is a premium single-origin coffee born in the misty hills of Baba Budan Giri, Chikkamagaluru. It carries the soul of Karnataka's Malnad region, where rich soil, monsoon rain and the biodiversity of the Western Ghats shape every bean.
The brand was founded by two women, Harita and Gauri, with a shared ambition: to take the coffee culture of Malnad beyond its region and introduce it to international markets. The first of those markets is the Czech Republic, where Malnadia is now launching. Coffee has grown in Malnad for centuries, sustained by generations of farmers, and Malnadia's promise is to bring that journey from farm to cup, so the world knows not just where the coffee comes from, but who makes it possible.
That meant an identity that would be met by people who had never heard of Malnad. It had to feel unmistakably Indian without feeling traditional, and premium without losing the warmth of where it comes from.
What we did
Origin became the idea. We put the farmers at the centre of the brand instead of treating them as a footnote to its story.
The mark is built from what Malnadia is made of. An arch from traditional Indian architecture frames the hills and sun of Malnad, the seed and leaves, the coffee bean and the peacock. A supporting motif is built around the women who harvest the crop, so the people behind every bean sit beside the product.
The colours were found, not chosen. Four of them come straight from the coffee: Latte Cream, the mist over the hills. Caramel Brew, sun-dried coffee and ripened fields. Mocha Roast, roasted beans and rich soil. Cherry Arabica, ripe cherries at the moment of harvest. Over time, seeing them should feel like remembering Malnadia.
Two patterns carry the identity. The primary pattern is built from core logo elements and works as a quiet, low-opacity signature. The secondary draws on Indian ornament and botanical forms, and is reserved for packaging, borders and the moments that need more heritage.
On pack, the arch frames the mark, a painted Malnad landscape rises through the centre, and the ornamental pattern wraps the rest, with a QR code inviting people to know the brand better.
The result is a brand designed to travel globally, while still carrying the soul of Malnad with it.
